The Gutenberg Financial Modeling Virtual Intern Program
Join us in Disrupting the Traditional Wall Street Internship Experience
What is Gutenberg Research?
Gutenberg Research provides earnings models for publicly traded companies to our users. Our Financial Modeling Intern Program is a part-time, virtual internship, which simulates the experience one would receive working as a sell-side Research Associate at an investment bank. We teach our interns how to use models to estimate a company's future earnings, and publish their work to showcase their modeling skills to future employers.

How does the intern program work?
If you accepted into our program, you will be given access to our free intern training, which teaches the basics of modeling and shows you exactly how to use an earnings model. You will also be invited to attend a live training session over Google Hangouts. Training dates are scheduled to align with earnings seasons. During these training sessions we use a real world modeling example, and take questions from the interns.
We will also provide a textbook (delivered as a PDF file). This curriculum will give you the basic foundation required for the program. After you have read the curriculum, you will take an exam to demonstrate your understanding of the modeling approach.
Next, you will input your own forecast into an existing model. All students within an earnings season cohort will work on the same subject company. After you have created your forecast in the model, you will upload your model with a summary of your forecast, or an article about the company, and we will publish it for our community members to download. After you complete the program, you may contribute a model for any company you wish as a Community Contributor.

Who can apply?
We have found that the most successful interns in our program are graduate students, or undergrads who have already completed the fundamental finance and accounting courses; however, we allow any student who is interested in a career in investment analysis to apply. The program will be limited to 15 participants per round. Not every student who applies will able to participate. In the past we have had relatively low completion rates of the students who have applied to the program. To improve the rate going forward, we are assigning priority to students who have the highest probability of successfully completing the program.

Meet the Intern Instructor - John Moschella, CFA, CPA
Welcome new interns! I will be your financial modeling instructor. I have changed the program a bit to incorporate feedback from the first round of Gutenberg interns: Rather than having new interns build a model from scratch, our program now focuses on using existing models and teaching our students how to use the model to incorporate their own assumptions, project future earnings, and calculate a target share valuation. I am happy to report that we have received very positive feedback from our first round of successful interns, who generally found the virtual internship to be helpful in developing modeling experience. Looking forward to working with you during the next earnings season!
